Dear family, friends and all Isan mission prayer supporters,
Acts 14 | Paul stoned in Lystra
"...strengthening
the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith,
and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of
God."
The
Lord is gracious. A response for support came from a place I did not
expect. Ulsan, South Korea (SK). Myung-Sung Presbyterian Church in
Ulsan, SK is a mission-minded-praying community of believers and they
have the heart to support me as a full-time missionary for 3 years. I
met the pastor 4 years ago when I was a first year in my Tropical
Medicine doctorate program. I have been in Ulsan for 2 weeks and my
short time has already been extremely blessed. Through this season of
blessing and fun times; I am also a little stressed studying for my
GMS/GMTI mission training interview and exam. Please pray that I pass
the interview and the exam. It is likely that I will fail the exam since
I was given the 800-page "Mission Perspectives" book 2 weeks ago, but
they said that if I fail I can take it again and again until I pass. I
hope that will not be the case.
CHRISTMAS SEASON
I
love Christmas. There is so much joy in my heart. Remembering the birth
of Jesus is always a season of great joy and gladness. I am thankful
to be in Korea this year and to be celebrating this season with the
members of Ulsan Church. I will be sharing a testimony this Sunday for Christmas with the Myung-Sung youth kids. I believe He has a
specific word for them so I pray that the Lord alone would be glorified
through my testimony and that He would stir their hearts with a hunger
to know Him more.
MISSION
The
Lord has been using this time to equip me for full-time mission work. A
commitment I had already made many years ago, however, without any
specific mission training or covenant support. It's funny, The Lord has
been using my "Mission Perspective" textbook to revive my first love of
Christ and desire to serve Him as his missionary. I am reminded once
again how short this life is and how honored and privileged I feel to
serve Him in this world. I am blessed. I pray that my faith would not
weaken through the trials, temptations and hardships of the world. I
pray that my eyes would continue to be fixed upon the Cross and on
eternity. The Lord is worthy.
1.
Please pray that the Lord would reveal and clarify His will and vision
for my life during my time of training and building relationships in
Korea.
2.
Please pray that the Lord open more doors for partnership and
relationships within this church, GMS and others for the mission of
God.
3.
Please pray for more workers in the mission field. "The harvest is
plentiful, but the workers are few." This is often said and often used
but maybe it is not often-enough. I pray that it weighs on your heart as
you read it once again.
Grace and peace to you my family and friends in the love of Jesus Christ!
Have a very Merry Christmas and I will see some of you next year in Ohio (March-ish)!
Blessings from South Korea
