Dear all,
I pray that this email finds you well. This email is getting sent out later than I had planned. It has been a busy 2 months.
I thank God for a time to go to Korea. I
was incredibly blessed by the whole experience. I went with my Chinese
friend, Xurui, who I have mentioned before. She has yet to receive Jesus
as her Savior, but is open to learn more about Him. She received my
gift of a bible with much gladness and even brought it with her when we
met in Korea. She showed me with two hands how she had wrapped it in a
beautiful pink covering so it wouldn't get damaged. I had shared with
her stories of Christians in China and how precious the bible was to
them. It has become one of her precious possessions. Anyway, we roamed
Korea with my family as well as doing some exploration on our own. We
ended the trip by meeting my mentor's mission community on the Sabbath
on Yonsei University Campus (Yonhee UBF -
http://yonheeubf.org/? ckattempt=1). They welcomed and blessed us incredibly with the love of God before we left.
After Korea, I went on GCF retreat. GCF stands for Graduate Christian Fellowship and is associated to
Intervarsity (IV) that we know in America. I have been part of GCF for
nearly 8 months now. It is made up of young adults who serve the Lord in
Thailand with heart for sharing the gospel in the work place. We
planned a retreat during a long buddhist holiday. While the whole
country worshipped images of gold buddhas all weekend, we went to a high
point of Khon Kaen to worship the one true God. I had actually planned
on not going but a TCS missionary and GCF leader told me she would hold a
place for me in case I changed my mind. Not only that, but she had
asked me to share during her global mission seminar on how to share the
gospel in our daily lives, in case I decided to go. This is the last
thing I wanted to do since I recently want to throw in the towel on
missions in Thailand. In faith (and without
a better excuse not to go), I went, shared, and was incredibly blessed
by time spent with all these men and women of faith. Everyone on this
retreat was Thai, again I was the lone foreigner. Ironically, the very
people I keep trying to run away from have continued to bless and
support me through their love and faith.
The
hardship I have been experiencing lately is pride (mixed with fear and
weariness). The Word transformed my thoughts incredibly this week during
one of my morning quiet times. I thank the Lord for His mercy and love
so abounding.
I recently moved to a new apartment. It has been a blessing because I have been able to sleep well and feel
at peace. I am thankful also because now I have a sink in the bathroom
and air conditioning. These are two little things that have given me a
little more physical strength these days.
It is still rainy season. The morning and evenings are cooler and more tolerable. However, we pay the price with humidity.
My new sheep and disciple, P'Tack is doing quite well. She
is experiencing her own struggles but has been learning to trust in the
Lord. The Lord has also given her an amazing heart to share the gospel
with her family. She has started to take her nephews to church with her
and has been experiencing a lot of backlash and intolerance from her
parents, aunt and uncle. Pray that that Lord would keep this door open
for her as a new mission-minded disciple.
My friend P'Tik is still struggling in her faith and life in Japan (she is Thai). As well as with her relationship with her husband, whom she still desires to divorce. Please keep her in your prayers.
Ying, girl I had shared gospel with last month is doing well in her faith and learning to read the bible I gave her everyday. She
is back in Singapore but she is eager to learn more about God and grow
in her faith. I thank God for one of her good friends is a believer. He
came to Khon Kaen to do liver fluke environment-related research a
couple years ago. He is a strong Christian from a family lineage of
Christian missionaries to the 4th generation. God set it up. So random
and so amazing.
Some new friends Jelly and P'Fone have
encouraged me greatly through their faith and love for the Lord. I am
thankful for their community and presence in this season and time.
Prayer Request:
1. My Thai and Isan language training - Needs to improve.
2. Hai, Chivorn and Yu - Vietnamese, Cambodia and Chinese friends, respectively. I met them
within the last 2 years. Please pray that they will receive the gospel
through my sharing and our friendship before going back to their home
countries.
3. P'Tack - and her growing faith and evangelistic heart
4. P'Tik, Ying and Xurui - to fully receive Jesus into their lives.
5. Jelly - has new missionary heart and desires to go to Ukraine
6. P'Fone - is entering a new season of life and God may be calling her to move and leave Khon Kaen
7. Agape Church - my pastor, his family and my church members and their growth in faith
and perseverance in the fight against great spiritual darkness.
8. Isan missionaries - Recently some missionaries have moved out of Isan to other parts of
Thailand or have gone home on sabbatical and/or permanent leave. Please
pray for their health, their family, their finances, and their physical,
mental, and emotional strength in the fight abroad/ away from their
home towns.
9. Pray for me also that I remain faithful to the Lord and his voice alone.
Our last day in Korea with Yonhee UBF shephards and to me, giants of faith. This is a day Xurui and I dressed
like twins and roamed around Korea. We looked so dorky and had a great
time :)
I spent the 4th of July with CO missionaries and Isan village kids. It was their first time playing with sparklers. It was quite a fun evening!

about being a missionary and living in Thailand has been the amazing
access I have to so many giants of faith. We all met by the hand of God
and have monthly English-speaking-accountability-fellowship dinners together.
This
was a Friday dinner at Vacca Restaurant in Khon Kaen. It is an Italian
place run by a charismatic chef from Italy named Fabio. Food is fabulous
and he is quite the entertainer ^___^
